Speedway Fueled Miracles for Kentucky Children’s Hospital in 2020!
Seventy Speedway stores across Kentucky fueled miracles in 2020, raising $452,118.01 for Kentucky Children’s Hospital — the highest per store fundraising average in the United States.
Each store supporting Kentucky Children’s Hospital raised an average of $5,680.71, more than double the national average of $2,490. What drove this tremendous fundraising push despite widespread economic decline?
Personal connections.
“CMN Hospitals is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart,” says Bertie Jointer, the manager of Speedway #9651 in Lexington, Kentucky. “I have a little sister that I wouldn’t have today if it weren’t for Kentucky Children’s Hospital.”
Jointer’s store raised $22,473.44 last year for Kentucky Children’s Hospital, becoming the second top fundraising location in the country.
“CMN Hospitals is my way of giving back for my sister, and my team and I have a lot of fun with it,” says Jointer.
This year, Speedway dollars will support developmental pediatrics, the most understaffed specialty at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. This program coordinates care for children diagnosed with various developmental conditions, such as ADHD, autism, and intellectual disabilities. Because of Speedway’s fundraising efforts, we can add three new professionals to the Developmental Pediatrics team, so we can help more children and their families have healthy, happy lives.
Since its CMN Hospitals partnership began in 1988, Speedway has raised more than $133 million for children’s hospitals across the country. Locations fundraising for Kentucky Children’s Hospital have raised $6,216,224 of that.
Fundraising for CMN Hospitals is central to Speedway’s culture, down to the local store level. Nowhere is this more true than for stores supporting Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
Children across the Bluegrass are grateful beneficiaries of Speedway’s efforts. Children’s Miracle Network Kentucky can hardly wait to see how Speedway changes kids’ health in 2021!
